Yes levantegirl - please do encourage the authors to do so. It is all I can do, and I have done so. I think it is a great idea, and one which I suspect would increase the readership of the stories. You might like to PM Electric Badger about it, since that part of forums is very much his baby.

I was also curius about the updates but mobius is a patiant curmugion and reconises the hard work that rabit1 and for that mator his fine moderators are doing for this site.

As I have read this thread I will not make any judgements or coments on wether this site is being managed correctly or not as Moby is thankfull to have a great archive of storys that he has read from this site going back many many years of the days of yor.

So I want to thank the owners of the site Tiger Rabit1 thank you for your dedication and hard work.

    HORRAY Rabbits ok,

I would suggest as I had before along with others here that any authors who want to get there stuff up right away to start a thread in the story section and keep posting to it. THank you all for your understanding and support, it means a lot to all of us.

You know, I've been viewing this site on and off for years (mostly on), and I've never seen it go so long without an update. I never really thought until now about how remarkable that is--especially for free. This is quite a large site to keep going. Actually, I just peeked in to see if anything was seriously wrong. Glad to see everyone's okay. I've never posted on the forums before, so hi everybody.

Just wanted to let you know I appreciate all the hard work.

Whilst I have really missed Rabbit, both as a fellow admin and as a friend, it is wonderful to see some of our lurkers coming out of the woodwork. I do hope that you now you have taken the plunge to make your first posts and found that you have survived the experience you will consider posting elsewhere.

Have to agree, the good Dr Mabeuse (in blu's link) was totally unknown to me, and what a sensual, suspenseful writer he is! The cheerleader story...even if the scenario is formally simple it's sooo hot.

I wonder if Rabbit kept updating the stories but stopped posting in threads if this much attention would be paid?

I am glad He is ok, thank you cariad for the update.

Given this situation and the popularity and size of this site, would it be worth coming up with a contingency plan in case something did happen to Rabbit? I'd hate to see BDSM Library disappear because of a single "point of failure". Could some of the work be delegated to you other moderators in future?

And I say this as a one-man-band running a moderately popular site of my own.

That is a very good point reynard, and I am sure it is one which, once Rabbit's inbox is empty, he and Tiger will consider.

*looks around for any mods sitting down doing nothing except waiting for further work to be delegated to them*

Bother, their are hiding again! Oh no, they are sleeping exhausted at their computers.

*Tiptoes around leaving a drink, cookie and thank you note next to each sleeping mod*

Seriously reynard - it is a great idea, thank you for your concern for the site, and I am convinced it will be considered.

What is Tiger so busy doing?

The front page was changed to say "Stories updated 1/may/07" 3 days ago. we still have no new stories. Shortly before that all the ads were changed. In 8 days we will have gone for an entire month with no new updates. If there is only 1 person that can do the updates perhaps tiger needs to look into getting someone to help him out.

I am fairly certain Tiger probably has a real life that does not focus completely on line...

Dairac still has a point that more than one person should be able to upload stories. In my experience, it is never a good idea to have a single person in charge of ANY part of a website, else the site will go through frequent phases of death and life.

And as Caraid has pointed out earlier in this thread that will be something that is looked at....

Until that happens getting impatient won't help the situation....

Is ANYONE's personal life your business? THIS IS A FREE SITE. It's not for us to ask a question like that. Go have a glass of wine, beer, whatever, and WAIT. Or try WRITING a story? That always helps me. Use your own imagination! Even if I never send them in (I have several), I still write when a fantasy comes along.

    If I was Tiger....
    Reading this thread lately.....
    The thread concerning chat.....
I might would be considering letting things ride longer just to cool off the myriad of hot heads that are on my board.

but that is just me. but if i think it.. perhaps he is thinking it too.

Tiger owns many sites --not just this on ---and the publishing software is so out of date here it takes hours of time to do an update ----the first one I did when I got back to publishing took over four hours to do ----it is not simple and hard to teach someone else ---as there are many programs you have to use and multi windows must be open at the same time ---I have done it for over a year now and I am fast-----but it is still a slow process ----as I also have to work with the over 2000 authors ---some who submit story files that are password protected and I can not open---then I have to email them ---or if something is wrong I have to email each author ----that is not counting the author who email me their stories instead of submitting them to the site ---which takes me longer to publish

Tiger was trying to do an update ---but you have to figure he has a life and a family ---and a bunch of other sites ---many of which I help him with and I was not there to help on any of them

We are looking at different publishing software ---have been for over a year ---but it is difficult to find one that will be compatible with what we have so we do not loose stories in the conversion process ---and I am not going to republish all the stories again in another software format ---I do not have that kind of time

hope this answers your questions as to what Tiger was so busy doing

Single out for my own quoted post. Thank you Rabbit. I'm surprised that none of shdowrnnrs posts were selected as that seemed to be the persona that caused the most problems.

First off I would like to let both Tiger and Rabbit know that I appreciate them and the job they are doing. I appreciate the site they are offering to us all. I understand that you have a hard job and that the software is kludgy and not very easy to use. The point I have been trying to make is that you have a vast pool of people willing to assist in helping. I realize that it will take time to do this training but in the long run it would be for the best.

You said that for the last year you and tiger have been looking at other software options. YOu also mentioned that some of the options would require republishing all the library. With more assistance it seems that this process could be handled without you having to work any harder then you currently do. Look at the excitement that was caused by the last month? I would think that the time taken to train a few more people in how to publish the stories when you are away would be worth it.

the vast pool of help you mentioned has yet to appear ----we have been trying to recruit and keep moderators ----we have great ones but not many members fall over themselves volunteering ----to do the publishing you have to have access into very sensitive areas of the site ----and one mistake can screw up not only the forum but the story page ---the chat room and the Academy ----so there again ----it is not easy to find people we can entrust that responsibility with ----It took me almost a year to find writers willing to donate time for the Writer's block classes ---we have the best ones there now ---but like I said ---the vast pool of help is just not there ---we went thru an lot of members who thought they might help only for them to fade away -----so until some simplier software is found and in service ---Tiger and I will be the only ones with the ability to publish the stories ----the only reason Tiger trust me with such access is I have been helping him on other forums for years -----so maybe after years of someone helping here in some other job ---he may learn to trust them ---but believe me ---he had trusted a few at some of the other sites ---they got mad and really messed thing up ---it took months to fix---

so if you happen to see the vast pool of volunteers point the to the Super Moderators or the other Admin ---they are still taking apps for Moderators

I know things seem simple to most people ---but it is far from simple ---it is so complicated to publish stories here ---that Tiger taught me over a year ago----and he had to ask me how to do it ----the only reason I remember is I do it most everyday ----so just hang in there for now you are stuck with me doing it ---to the best of my ability and within the time I have to do it ---I do have a life ----a family -----If I were not retired ---I could not keep up with it as good as I have so from time to time when I take a vacation ---no stories will be published

Maybe he singled yours out because he felt your question was valid and deserved a response. shdowrunner offered up nothing worth responding to, so maybe that's why his (her?) posts were left back there somewhere.

Good to have you back, Rabbit. And not just 'cause of the stories.

I usually just read and lurk, like a good little sub girl. But IRL in my office every one knows how to do all the various computer BS just in case someone gets sick, has an emergency or just gets fed up and walks out one day in a fit! I do appreciate the hard work Rabbit does and I am sorry for having taken him--and the story updates--for granted.
